These free restaurant bathroom cleaning checklists tell your staff exactly what to clean every day, every week and every month, so your restrooms stay clean, stocked and ready for guests and health inspectors. Download them below, post the daily page on the restroom door or run it on a phone, and have staff initial each task as they finish it.
Guests notice the bathroom, and many judge the rest of the restaurant by it. A clear checklist takes the guesswork out of cleaning and helps you keep the same standard on every shift. For the full list of commercial restroom tasks, see our professional restroom cleaning checklist.
Key features of our cleaning checklists include:
- Daily tasks include disinfecting high-touch areas, cleaning toilet bowls and restocking supplies.
- Weekly tasks like descaling and deep cleaning toilet bowls, wiping down cabinets and checking exhaust fans.
- Monthly tasks focused on deep cleaning floors, walls and ceilings and inspecting emergency supplies.
These checklists cover the details that keep a restroom spotless, so your facilities are always welcoming for your guests.
How Often to Clean a Restaurant Bathroom
| Frequency | Tasks |
|---|---|
| Several times per shift | Quick check: empty full bins, wipe sinks and counters, pick up paper, restock soap and towels |
| Daily | Disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets, door handles and dispensers, mop floors, restock all supplies |
| Weekly | Descale and deep clean toilet bowls, wipe down cabinets and partitions, check exhaust fans |
| Monthly | Deep clean floors, walls and ceilings, inspect emergency supplies |
Keep the handwashing sink stocked at all times. Staff use restroom sinks too, and the FDA Food Code calls for handwashing of at least 20 seconds in total, which only happens when soap, water and paper towels are there. Add the restroom check to your opening and closing checklists so the day starts and ends with a clean, stocked bathroom.
Use these checklists to:
- Make your cleaning routine simpler and the same on every shift.
- Improve customer satisfaction.
- Meet health regulations and workplace rules, including OSHA’s sanitation standard for keeping toilet facilities clean.
If your team’s routine hasn’t changed in years, here’s why it pays to update your daily cleaning routine.
Download the full checklist below to keep your restrooms clean and your guests comfortable. To see who cleaned the restroom and when at every location, you can also run the same tasks as a digital cleaning checklist on MaintainIQ, with due times for each check. It is one app for checklists, temperature logs and work orders, so cleaning and repairs are tracked together.
